Tonal pumps up the volume with longer terms and inbound telesales
For many of us, having a personal trainer and a gym at home would be a dream come true. That’s exactly what Tonal delivers: an all-in-one fitness system that attaches to your wall. And Tonal’s partnership with Affirm is making that dream attainable for more customers.
Inbound telesales with Affirm simplified the buying process
Tonal is a leader in the connected, in-home fitness space. Its wall-mounted machine offers a variety of workouts, from boxing and strength training to yoga.
As shoppers consider buying Tonal, many of them call with questions about installation. The inbound calls are a great opportunity for Tonal’s associates to close sales, but the team didn’t have the tools to complete sales for customers who wanted to buy with Affirm—until November of 2019.
Ready to try the buy now, pay later solution that delivers?
By adding inbound telesales to its existing Affirm partnership, Tonal made these transactions much easier for both the sales team and customers. Tonal activated the feature through an API integration with its website along with training for the sales team. The result delivered a holiday surprise: 38% of total volume from November through January came from inbound telesales.
“The onboarding and the education process was very thorough,” said Rich Krolikowski, Tonal’s Growth Marketing Manager for E-Commerce. “The inbound telesales solution has had a significant impact on general customer satisfaction and overall order volume.”
Longer terms made Tonal more accessible
Tonal explored another Affirm feature—offering longer repayment terms at 36 months. (Before, customers could choose to pay over 12, 18, or 24 months—all at 0% APR.) The intent, Krolikowski said, was to lower the monthly payment amount and make their high-tech system more accessible to shoppers who want to pay for it like a gym membership.
The longer-term option began just before Black Friday. “When our web traffic started to increase during the holidays, we saw a huge uptick in Affirm web events and people exploring their pricing options,” Krolikowski said. “By offering the lower price point we were able to get our product in front of new potential customers and subsequently increased overall order conversion across the board.”
He added that Tonal is processing a significant amount of its orders through Affirm. “It’s been great to partner with a brand that inspires so much confidence,” Krolikowski said. “Affirm has made more business possible for us.”
